Birmingham corporation acquires Brace’s Bakery

Boparan Private Office purchased century-old Welsh business Brace’s Bakery for an undisclosed amount, saving approximately 250 jobs. In October 2025, the bakery announced it was facing “difficult headwinds over the last few months in a challenging market,” citing a significant decline in its overall volumes in the last year. Days before the deal was announced, local media reported about possible layoffs  and the manufacturing site in Pen-y-Fan industrial estate being under closure threat.

Founded in 1902, Brace’s Bakery supplies bread, Welsh cakes, rolls and other bakery products to retailers across Wales and the west of England. The company reported a GBP 1.3 million los, while the year before it had a profit of GBP 819,568, Wales Online reports.

Boparan Private Office (BPO) is the private investment vehicle and family office of British businessman Ranjit Singh Boparan, who is the founder and owner of 2 Sisters Food Group.

BPO confirmed the the jobs at the site are protected, writes The Grocer. Boparan said in  a statement: “Brace’s is an iconic brand with a rich heritage and we are delighted to have been able to reach an agreement to step in and preserve this business. Our focus is on providing the backing and stability the business needs to move forward and build a sustainable future while maintaining the identity and quality that customers trust.”
