The Romanian Competition Council approves Bimbo Group’s acquisition of Karamolegos Bakery Romania through its local company Vel Pitar. Karamolegos Romania, a division of the Greek bread maker Karamolegos, produces packaged bread for its own brands and private labels. Vel Pitar is Romania’s largest bread producer, acquired by Grupo Bimbo in 2023.

In 2024, Karamolegos Bakery Romania’s revenue was RON 35.5 million (EUR 6.96 million), with a net profit of RON 3.3 million (EUR 647,000).

The Competition Council announced it found the acquisition does not impact competition on the Romanian market. “There are no serious doubts regarding its compatibility with a normal competitive environment,” the Council said in a statement.
