Greggs is preparing to open its first shop outside the UK in the coming weeks at Tenerife South Airport, in partnership with travel operator Lagardère Travel Retail. “Tenerife South is a destination for millions of UK and international passengers each year and represents an excellent opportunity to test our offering in an international travel hub,”  the company announced. The UK chain also counts 41 gross shop openings this year, with 20 net openings, which brings its network to 1,759 shops in April. “We continue to target around 120 net openings for the full year,” Greggs anticipates.

Greggs reported its sales went up by 7.5% in the first 19 weeks of this year, reaching a total of GBP 800 million. In the same interval of 2025, its sales were worth GBP 744 million.

Greggs is also working on broadening and refreshing its menu, noting that the earlier launch of its new Chicken Roll in April has become a customer favourite, joining its Sausage Roll and Vegan Roll. The bakery also expanded its hot food and pizza offerings. New launches include the Tandoori Chicken Pizza Slice.

The bakery enhanced its salad range with a mix of new and reformulated recipes. New salads include the Chicken Caesar and the Chicken, Grains and Greens, adding protein and increasing choice for customers.

Its drinks range also received an update, with new creations in iced coffees, lemonades and refreshers. In this segment, the Matcha launch proved extremely popular, Greggs notes.

Its new frozen product manufacturing and logistics facility in Derby is set to start operations this year, while the new National Distribution Center in Kettering will begin operating in 2027.
