The winners of the IBA UIBC Cup of Bakers are Corentin Molina and Yannis Thouys from France. The duo was awarded gold by Dominique Anract, UIBC President, and Roland Ermer, President of the German Bakers‘ Confederation, in a ceremony held on May 19 at the iba.FORUM.
Johanna Lenhardt and Lea Wagner from Germany were awarded silver and Mike Onase and Gerrit Huckriede from the Netherlands came in third.
The German team also won the prize for the best showpiece. The jury president’s creative prize went to Sigrun Sol Vigfusdottir and Nastasja Kiencke from Iceland.
Following an intensive preparation period, the finale of the iba UIBC Cup of Bakers was held at iba. “To succeed in this competition, bakers have to perform outstandingly. Every move has to be perfect. Over the past two days, the iba audience could witness live how these talented bakers created true masterpieces under tension and time pressure. This is artisan bakery at top notch level,” praised jury chairman Andreas Schmidt from Germany.
Teams from Germany, France, Iceland, Jordan, the Netherlands and Sweden competed for the gold medal over two days under the theme “Art”. The duo teams were challenged to create baked goods on this topic in six hours, products including bread, small, party and Danish pastries as well as one baked showpiece.
