Lantmännen Unibake Sweden is building a new production facility in Örebro, to expand its bread business with added production capacity. The construction is set to begin this autumn. The company anticipates it will begin operations there in 2027.
The owner of the Korvbrödsbagarn brand is investing approximately SEK 700 million (EUR 64.4 million) in the new factory.
The new 13,000-square-meter facility, spanning three floors, will be built within the complex of the existing factory. The new production facility follows the 2023 inauguration of a new central warehouse in Örebro.
Lantmännen Unibake Sweden has operated the bakery in Örebro since 1963. Today, the site is one of Europe’s largest specialty bakeries for hotdog and burger buns, with a production capacity of over two million pieces per day, the company highlights.
“This new facility allows us to meet growing customer demand while strengthening our position in the region. It reflects our strong commitment to Swedish food production and represents a long-term investment in reliability, product quality and innovation,” comments Jonas Lindell, Managing Director of Lantmännen Unibake Sweden.
“With the expansion, we are increasing capacity and thus Swedish food production. The building incorporates a range of measures that support our climate ambitions – including solar panels and technology upgrades. These enhancements reflect our continued focus on responsible growth and incremental improvements in environmental performance,” he adds.
