Lotus Bakeries builds new production hall in Lembeke
f2m Lotus ground breaking

Lotus Bakeries started the construction project of a new production hall at its Lembeke site with a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by its CEO, Jan Boone. All required permits have been obtained, and construction has now formally started. With the new building, the company will be able to expand its Biscoff® production in Belgium, supporting the brand’s continued international growth.

The first production from the new facilities is expected within two years.

Lotus had the construction project designed to respect its surroundings, implementing extensive greening and landscaping measures, including low-noise technologies, noise-reducing infrastructure, the replanting and reallocation of trees, and the creation of nearly one hectare of new green space. These efforts aim to integrate the new building harmoniously into the environment.

Biscoff® has been produced in Lembeke for more than 90 years. Today, the Lembeke Biscoff® factory mainly serves the European market, while the dedicated Biscoff® factories in Chonburi (Thailand) and Mebane (US) supply the Asia-Pacific region and the American continent, respectively.

Jan Boone, CEO of Lotus Bakeries, comments:

“This expansion feels like a very natural next step in the globalization of Biscoff®. Biscoff® was created here in Lembeke, more than 90 years ago, and from day one our focus has been on quality, craftsmanship and the power of branding. I would also like to thank Flanders and the Municipality for their support and enthusiasm for this project. Their trust gives us the confidence to continue building the future of Lotus Bakeries right here, where our story began.”
