The Women’s Bakery, a project successfully developed to support breadmaking, bread availability and women’s employment in Rwanda, announced that it is now expanding its business model into Kenya.

“This milestone has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to officially announce that our first Kenyan bakery will open in the greater Nairobi Metropolitan Area. The bakery will follow the hub-and-spoke model that has helped us sustainably grow our impact across Rwanda, allowing us to serve more communities while creating opportunities for women,” said Pauline Kariuki, COO.

The project did not simply set out to open another bakery, but to build a strong foundation that reflects who The Women’s Bakery are, its management explained: “At the heart of TWB is our commitment to empowering women, and that means creating workplaces where women can build secure, thriving futures.”

“Our Whole Woman Programming remains central to this vision. By investing in financial literacy, leadership development, health and well-being, and professional growth, we create opportunities that extend far beyond employment. As we establish our presence in Kenya, these programs will be woven into the fabric of our new bakery from the very beginning.“

The new bakery will open in early 2027, beginning with a soft launch to help the new market learn about the concept.
