Warburtons announced the opening of a new bakery in Wakefield, formerly a facility of Rathbones Bakery. The acquisition is part of its GBP 100 million investment program, which also includes doubling the size of its gluten‑free bakery in Newburn, investing in a new distribution center in Biggleswade, and adding new production lines at its Bolton and Burnley bakeries to support growing demand for crumpets and pancakes.
Through its network, Warburtons delivers over two million products to over 18.500 stores, every day. The investments aim at strengthening the model. “Together, these investments are about ensuring we can continue to bake the best quality products our consumers love, creating new opportunities, backing great people,” Warburtons notes.
“We’re excited to be opening the doors to a new bakery in Wakefield – welcoming more people into the Warburtons family and investing in the future of our business, the way we always have: for the long term,” the company shares.
