The Association of German Plant Bakeries called for bakeries to be prioritized in the event of bottlenecks in energy supply, in a letter sent to the ministries of the federal states responsible for energy issues. The association stressed the need for large bakeries to have gas and electricity, in particular, without interruptions, to be able to supply bread throughout Germany without disruptions.
“Switching to other energy sources is out of the question for technical reasons, at least in the short and medium term,” said the association’s general manager, Armin Juncker. In this context, the association is already asking, as a precautionary measure in the event of an energy shortage, for unrestricted supply of energy for German bakeries, as much as possible.
