Ferrero Group acquired Fresystem, the Italian company that specializes in frozen bakery goods and is behind the Cupiello brand, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction is expected to close in the upcoming months. With the acquisition, Ferrero strengthens its foothold in the sweet snack segment.
A Naples-based company, Fresystem supplies major foodservice chains in Italy, including McCafé and Chef Express, European Food Agency News reports. It was founded in 1983 and was acquired by the Simioli family in 1991.
Fresystem recently introduced its ‘Must Haves’ Fine Artisan Pastry Range at SIGEP in January, which includes new croissants from CasaMadre Cupiello – “characterized by their innovative, shorter and more rounded shape, typical of finest artisan pastry,” the company detailed.
