Freiberger plans investments in the three-digit million range

The Freiberger Group, which claims to be the world’s leading manufacturer of frozen pizza for private labels, announced an ambitious growth strategy. The subsidiary of Südzucker AG plans to invest a three-digit million amount in expanding its production capacities, developing new markets and modernizing existing locations.

“Pizza has long been one of the most popular ready meals, and demand is rising steadily. To ensure that our customers can continue to rely on us in the future, we are expanding our capacities,” says Uta Kisser, Head of Corporate Communication at Freiberger Lebensmittel GmbH. This strategy includes, in particular, a complete focus on private-label pizza from the entry-level to the premium-plus segment, which is achieved, among other things, by cutting back on peripheral business. This focus can be seen in the new claim: “Your pizza, slicely better.”

A new frozen pizza factory is being built in the UK for English and international customers, which will start operations in March 2025. In the USA, Freiberger subsidiary Richelieu Foods sold its sauces and dressings division in July 2024 in order to focus on its core pizza business. According to Freiberger, pizza consumption is also rising steadily in North America. A new pizza line will therefore be launched next year.

Freiberger is also currently concentrating on expanding and modernizing its plants in Germany and Austria. The aim is to strengthen its position in the core DACH and Benelux markets and to ensure expansion into Eastern Europe.
