Italian bakery Morato acquired Tuscan gluten-free specialist Nt Food, a company with a EUR 35 million turnover, known for its Nutrifree and Nutrisì brands. Nt Food has three production facilities in the Lucca province, italianfood.net reports.
Nt Food founders Nicoletta and Giovanna Del Carloremain are said to continue leading the company, in partnership with Morato, and will continue to hold an equity stake. “We are very pleased,” the Italian news outlet quotes Morato CEO, Stefano Maza, “as this transaction is part of our strategic plan aimed at development in the bakery market. This acquisition will allow us to create significant synergies within product and process innovation, as well as distribution, opening new interesting opportunities in specialized channels and segments, and strengthening our branded product range.”
A comment from Nicoletta Del Carlo, CEO and Co-founder of Nt Food, was also quoted: “We have often chosen to embrace change, and this has allowed us to evolve and seize new opportunities. Today, Morato Group embodies such an opportunity. And we feel we are seizing it, strong in our entrepreneurial vision and shared values.”
