Semper, a Hero Group company, announced the sale of its gluten-free business in the Nordics to Dr. Schär. The company plans to focus its business on its core categories – children’s food and healthy snacks. The deal includes the Semper gluten-free crisp bread bakery in Korsnäs, Finland. Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed. The transaction will become effective on December 29, 2023.
“We are very pleased to have found an ideal new home, where our gluten-free business can grow to its full potential. We are divesting the business to secure a long-term future with a new strategic owner for our colleagues working in the gluten-free business. The divestment is part of our long-term strategy to focus on our core categories in the Nordics of Baby & Toddler Food and Healthy Snacks,” said Jim Frandsen, CEO, Semper AB, on the announcement.
Hannes Berger, CEO, Dr. Schär, also shared a comment: “The expansion of Dr. Schär in the Nordics will allow us to strengthen our mission to improve the lives of all consumers with special dietary needs. We welcome the Swedish team and are looking forward to further expanding our market leadership in Europe.”
