“The key to sustainabilityis to think globally”

Sustainability is multi-layered and complicated, partly because it’s difficult to tackle the topic in isolation from other partners in the value chain. Germany’s largest baked goods manufacturer, Harry-Brot GmbH, found this to be true as it has been making strides with CO2 reduction, in-house and along the value chain for years. In this interview, Norbert Lötz, Managing Director of Production and Technology, talks about the challenges and obstacles on the way to sustainable baked goods production.

AIBI Congress 2024: a breeze over the bakery

The 38th AIBI Congress brought the baking industry together this year for the moment’s most important topics, decision-making meetings and long-awaited reunions. The International Association of Plant Bakers organized this year’s event with the theme ‘21st Century Breeze over the Bakery’, and a picturesque location to match it: the city of Hamburg.

Royal Smilde installs AMF pastry line

Royal Smilde is known for its rich diversity of sweet and savory baked creations. Either sold under its own labels, through collaborations, or as private labels, the products made by the Dutch bakery are in growing demand worldwide. A very flexible production line helped them increase production volumes, built by AMF Bakery Systems (Tromp). Particular care was given to automating apple turnover production, namely – dough folding into a triangle.
