The team from Taiwan won the 51st UIBC International Competition for Young Bakers. The competition for young talents was held in Taipei, Taiwan, together with the Taipei International Bakery Show (February 16-19). Seven teams competed for the award, coming from Vietnam, Brazil, Malaysia, Sweden, Singapore, Taiwan and Germany.
Second place went to Sweden and third place to Brazil. The team from Vietnam was delighted to receive the special prize from jury president Bernd Kütscher. After Germany won in 2021 (Lyon, France) and 2022 (Berlin), the German team finished fourth this year.
The UIBC International Championship for Young Bakers is a traditional competition that has been held annually since 1971. All teams must produce 140 products in 13 different shapes, plus a showpiece, in five categories:
- Category 1: Bread
- Category 2: Bread Rolls / Buns
- Category 3: Sweet Yeast Pastry
- Category 4: Danish Pastry / Viennoiserie
- Category 5: Showpiece
