Belgium’s Vandemoortele is building a new factory in Torcé in Brittany, to support the production of coffee cake, a market with an annual growth of 3-5%. A staff of 50 people will be employed to work here. The project represents an investment of approximately EUR 25 million, Food Holland reports. The construction is set to start in September and the factory will be able to begin production by April next year, the news outlet details.

When the French factory is completed, the production capacity will be expanded by approximately 25,000 tons per year. Vandemoortele now produces 40,000 tons of coffee biscuits annually in two nearby factories in the region, where it employs around 450 people.

Bakery products make up around 60% of Vandemoortele’s turnover. Last year, the group invested almost EUR 40 million in expanding and improving production capacity.
