Baker & Baker launched its first range of vegan products, which includes cookies, doughnuts and muffins. Following the launch in France and Germany in 2021, the range will be rolled out to UK bakeries, foodservice operators and retailers and in Q1 2022.

The doughnut and muffins are thaw and serve, while the cookies can be baked from frozen. The range has a shelf life of between two and five days. The doughnuts and cookies are manufactured with certified palm oil and the muffins are palm oil-free.  No artificial preservatives, flavorings, or colorings are added in these recipes.

The launch aims to meet demands from consumers adopting flexitarian and vegan diets, on the rise in the UK. In addition, “In developing the range, it was fundamental the products also delivered on taste,” said Helen Sinclair, UK marketing manager at Baker & Baker. According to The Vegan Society, one in four Brits eats fewer animal-based products since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Made from all vegan ingredients, the range includes:

  • a pink velvet ring doughnut – a doughnut base with a strawberry-flavored icing and white sugar strands
  • a dark chocolate muffin – a chocolate muffin with Belgian dark chocolate chunks
  • a fruity blueberry muffin – a blueberry muffin with natural flavors and a crumble topping
  • a dark chocolate cookie puck – a dark chocolate cookie containing 30% Belgian chocolate

“Flexitarian and vegan diets are now mainstream and will continue to grow”, added Sinclair. “We see this launch as the start of a journey and will continue to expand and evolve the range to meet consumer demand.”
