The Fédération des Entreprises de Boulangerie (FEB) is developing actions, together with other French organizations, in favor of vocational training and employment in the bakery and pastry sector.

As part of initial or continuous training, the industry can promote skill development, in particular, through professional qualification certificates (CQP). The primary objective of this project is to enable CQP candidates to acquire new skills and/or have their professional experience certified. In addition, these CQPs allow new candidates to enter the labor market with a diploma, to meet needs for qualified staff in the industry. In addition, these CQPs allow new candidates to integrate, with a diploma, into the labor market, including detainees.

A pilot program started at the end of 2021 at the Duai penitentiary in France, to promote the reintegration of prisoners into professional work. A fully-equipped bakery was installed, and it provides training with the help of SAS TRAINING organization.

To date, two CQP validation sessions have been held, under the theme ‘skilled manufacturing worker in bakery, pastry and pastry’. 14 of the 15 candidate inmates graduated and were offered a job offer, on their release, by a company in the sector.

“The FEB, the FGA-CFDT, the FGTA-FO, the CFTC-CSFV and the CFE-CGC AGRO are delighted to be able to support this project, which carries meaning where the reintegration of people in difficulty remains a major societal issue, while being the first agri-food sector in France to initiate this approach. Finally, the social partners salute all the actors enabling the realization of this project and hope that this initiative can be developed throughout the territory,” the Association said in a statement.
