Royal Kaak CEO, Lodewijk van den Borg, was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau by the King of the Netherlands, as an acknowledgment of his role as CEO for 12 and a half years, and his accomplishments in innovation and societal progress. The official presentation was held during a celebratory ceremony at the CIVON Innovation Center in Ulft, where Alderman Ben Hiddinga MPM presented him with the distinction.

“His drive and leadership have not only contributed to the success of our organization but have also had a tangible impact on technological advancement and sustainability in the manufacturing industry. With a broad understanding of global issues, Lodewijk selflessly and actively engages in developing and promoting positive changes, both in technical and technological aspects, as well as socially. Focused on the future, the sustainability of the planet, and the pursuit of social equality. Sometimes visibly in the forefront, often behind the scenes,” Kaak said in a statement on the occasion.

Some of the milestones in technology innovation achieved by Kaak include 3D metal printing, in which Lodewijk plays an active role.

There are two Dutch civilian orders of chivalry: the Order of the Lion of the Netherlands and the Order of Orange-Nassau. These honors are conferred on persons who have rendered outstanding service to society, according to the Royal House of the Netherlands. The Order of Orange-Nassau is awarded for longstanding meritorious service to society, the State, or the Royal House. The first five of the six classes are: Knight Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight. Recipients of an award in the sixth class become members of the Order.
