Fazer is planning to build a new, energy-efficient bread line in the Lahti bakery. The investment would result in removing some of the existing production lines in Lahti, a move with an impact on the staff needed going forward.
Production resumed on Sunday, March 19, at the Scottish bakery Morton’s Rolls, after the company was bought by the PVL consortium. The bakery started the weekend with limited staff running test bakes before it fully reopened on Sunday, following its sudden March 4 closure.
The Black Sea Grain Initiative was extended on March 18, the day it was due to expire. Since the signing of the Initiative in July 2022, some 25 million metric tons of grains and foodstuffs have been moved to 45 countries, and the initiative has been credited with helping to calm global food prices.
‘Angel investors’ could save the 58-year-old Scottish bakery that abruptly stopped operations on March 4. Its staff of around 250 people were informed in a letter that they were “laid off with immediate effect”.
