Morato bought Harry’s Restauration from Barilla, expanding its presence on the French market. Harry’s Restauration is running a plant that produces hamburger buns in Gauchy, northern France. The company had a turnover of EUR 10.2 million in 2021 and has about 40 employees in the 3,500 sqm plant.

After the sale, Barilla France will still be present on the French market with four production sites.

With an annual production of around 11,000 tons of bread, the new facility contributes to Morato’s total capacity of around 160,000 tons per year, throughout its 16 factories in Italy, France and Spain, which together amount to around 60 production lines, La Republica reports.

“The acquisition of the Gauchy facility is part of our strategic plan for expansion in Europe and will allow us to consolidate our presence in a strategic country. Not only because of the growth opportunities but also because it will allow us to strengthen our offerings to Northern European countries,” Italian Food News quotes Stefano Maza, CEO of Morato.

The new acquisition follows the purchase of Nt Food last year, a gluten-free bakery producer from Tuscany with a turnover of EUR 35 m.
