Following its end-of-year board meeting, the International Association of Plant Bakers (AIBI) hosted its traditional Bread Initiative symposium at its Grand Place headquarters, in Brussels. Its members and partners joined the event themed ‘Keeping bread on the table’.

Fedima published an industry-wide Code of Conduct for Responsible Sourcing in the bakery ingredients industry, aimed at Fedima members and all suppliers of the bakery and patisserie industry in Europe. The Bread Initiative released a vision paper, titled ‘Keeping Bread on the Table’ ahead of the European Parliament elections, held from June 6 to 9 this year, highlighting key requests that should guide policy-making during the next EP term. The paper was signed by the five European trade associations behind the Bread Initiative: AIBI, CEBP, COFALEC, European Flour Millers and Fedima.
The new President of Fedima, Thomas Lesaffre, shared his views on the role of the association in defending the industry and the work ahead, in support of the organization’s members, their customers and the consumer.
