
Greggs sales rise by 7.4%
Greggs reported a 7.4% increase in its total sales despite a ‘tough’ market, according to its Q4 Trading Update. The UK chain opened 207 new shops in 2025, including the first smaller-format Bitesize Greggs.

Greggs is focusing on becoming more convenient for more customers, with half-year sales up by 7 %, to a total of GBP 1,027.7 million. In the first 26 weeks of 2025, the bakery’s operating profit was GBP 70.4 million, down 7.1 % compared to the similar period of 2024.
Greggs announced the launch of its first Eco Drive-Thru, part of its priority to become more sustainable with new projects. Located at Easton Lane, Winchester, the drive-thru will test new, green features.
Greggs reported strong progress in 2024, with sales worth GBP 2 billion – an 11 % increase from the previous year, when total sales were GBP 1.8 billion.
UK’s Greggs adds jewelry to its iconic pastries. The bakery created a 22-carat gold-plated collection of Greggs-inspired jewelry for the most dedicated fans of its Sausage Roll. The limited-edition range features Sausage Roll earrings, a Jammy Heart Necklace and a Greggs charm bracelet, hand-crafted by British artist Dion Kitson.
Greggs reported its total sales in the first half of the year amounted to GBP 960.6 m, which is over GPB 110 m more (13.8 %) than the similar period of last year, when its sales were GBP 844 m. The UK chain’s profit before tax was up by 16.3 % to GBP 74.1 m.
Greggs is planning to open a new facility in Derby, which is bound to require some 600 people, the bakery anticipates. Construction is underway for a new sustainable production site in Spondon. New savory and sweets products will be produced here when the site opens, before the end of 2026.
Greggs announced its new summer range of products, available now in its shops, including two flatbread sandwiches, vegan offerings and muffins, alongside matching summer drinks.
Across the UK, Greggs stores are closing, as they experience card payment failures, or serving customers via cash-only payments while the chain works on resolving the IT issue.
Greegs announced it plans to open new branches across South and Northwestern England, starting in August. The expansion will include an outlet store and a drive-thru, according to local media reports.
The Leceister Square Greggs can stay open late at night, as the bakery reached an agreement with the Westminster Council to do so. Originally, the request to also keep this store open from 23:00 to 5.00 had been denied, due to concerns that it would create public disturbances.
Greggs recorded a sales increase of 23% in 2022 compared to the previous year. The strong performance was supported by record shop openings: 186 new stores began operating last year, growing its total count to 2,428 shops by the end of 2022.
