Lila Bäcker will close all of its 160 remaining branches and the bakery in Pasewalk on February 1. Approximately 900 employees working in the branch network, logistics and administration will be laid off.

The Unser Heimatbäcker group of companies applied to the Neubrandenburg district court for self-administration restructuring. Lila Bäcker’s business operations will continue unchanged for all its 232 branches and 1,600 employees. The company is in talks with investors, with plans for Lila Bäcker to be renovated in-house.
Lila Bäcker is selling freshly baked products that are left by the end of the day on the ‘Too Good to Go” app, at a heavily discounted price. People can reserve a surprise bag worth EUR 12 for the price of EUR 4 and pick it up from one of Lila Bäcker’s 230 branches half an hour before closing.
In February, Lila Bäcker opened the country’s first autonomous store for baked goods, in Neubrandenburg. The pick-up store is stocked several times per day with handmade products and operates without staff.
Lila Bäcker customers will be able to buy bread and baked goods around the clock in a new pickup store. The autonomous shop was showcased at the BakerSoft südback stand.
