Germany: moderate growth for the bakery trade
With sales of EUR 17.92 billion, the German bakery trade recorded moderate growth of 2% for 2024. The turnover in the bakery trade exceeded EUR 4 billion in each of the four quarters of last year.

The Bread of the Year 2022 has been decided: the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Bread Institute has decided in favor of wood-fired bread. According to the Central Association of the German Bakery Trade, it is a traditional type of bread that is becoming increasingly popular again today.
