The Committee of European Sugar Users (CIUS) issued a position following the suspension of sugar imports from Ukraine into EU countries, a measure it finds “economically unjustified for sugar and incoherent with the EU’s promise to support Ukraine.”
Mondelēz International repaired the Ukraine factory damaged by the war and resumed the production of Oreos. The facility located in Trostyanets sustained significant damage, Reuters reports, but no employees were hurt. The Oreo plant was closed when the war began.
Hovis bread prices will remain unchanged for the rest of the year, following an increase by almost a third as a result of the war in Ukraine and ensuing material and energy price hikes.

Tambov Bakery, a business 400 km from Moscow, uses its production facility for drone manufacturing, at the request of the army. Russian state media Rossia recently profiled the bakery, showing breads and drones on a production line.
Hadsfield Bakery, a business in Huddersfield, with 13 locations and 74 employees filed a notice to appoint administrators. The owners are working on a plan to save the business and the shops, and is in talks with banks and lawyers for a possible solution.
As the European Commission lifted the temporary bans on Ukrainian grain, its neighboring countries, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary imposed national-level restrictions of their own. This is an outcome the EC was trying to avoid, Euro News reports. Ukraine has been exporting its grain by land, through the countries around it since the grain deal fell through and it couldn’t use sea transport anymore.
In light of recent backlash from Sweden and Norway, Mondelez issued a statement saying it is further reducing its activities in Russia. In addition to scaling down operations, Mondelez now says it plans to have its Russia business as a stand-alone operation by the end of the year.
With mounting boycotting of Mondelez products in Norway, Coop Norge, the country’s second biggest retailer, seeks clarifications on the matter from the Ministry of Industry, before taking its own decision in this regard.
Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Bulgaria banned grain imports from Ukraine, in a bid to support domestic markets. The countries became transit routes for Ukrainian grain that could not be exported through the country’s Black Sea ports.
