Greggs signed a multi-million-pound contract with Edinburgh-based Business Stream, one of the UK’s largest water retailers. As part of the latest three-year deal, Business Stream will provide water and wastewater services to Greggs’ nine UK manufacturing sites and over 1,400 shops. To support Greggs’ sustainability targets, a key focus for the retailer will be to work with the company to help identify further water efficiencies.

In February 2021, Greggs launched ‘The Greggs Pledge’, with the company’s goals by 2025, which include carbon neutrality and minimizing food waste. Among sustainability milestones, Greggs recently achieved its pledge to reduce its carbon footprint by a quarter within a year.

Ally Stephenson, Head of Purchasing for Greggs, said: “We’re very pleased to have signed a new contract with Business Stream. Our focus will be to continue to work together to identify and deliver efficiencies across our sites, helping to support our pledge to create a safer planet.”

Business Stream announced last month that over the past year, it helped save customers across the UK just under GBP 32 million through discounts and water and energy efficiency measures.
